RADIANCE OF DEMOCRACY

For ages gone by as we are told by the pages of history, man has postulated varied ideologies in an attempt  to formulate principles in ruling the masses of the people.  Modern  political ideology exalts democratic governance and  implements it  by making policy out of “majority” decisions “the general  will”.

Two sides to the issue of governance are summarized by a Political commentator who said, ‘The most democratic government cannot honour the wishes of all its people neither can the most dictatorial deny them all’.  That notwithstanding, in keeping with modern political ideology which on a daily basis is being promulgated by the world’s powerful nations, the path of democracy is the better option for a developing nation like ours, Ghana.

Human social organisation is really imperative. Learned people have stated this fact by saying: Man is “political” by nature.

After man has attained social organisation and civilisation has thus become a fact, people need someone to be at the helm of affairs. Someone from among men because any other being may fall short of human perceptions and inspiration.

This explains the difference between the ruler and the ruled in all countries of the world who in their bid try to  weave a social structure of prosperity in their respective societies.

Both rulers and the ruled  in any society must be well advised that the most expensive thing they are honoured by their creator is life. Once man has been endowed with life, he must be willing and for that matter strive to put down a worthy legacy for up-and-coming generations. The future of this nation lies in our hands.
Therefore the government and the good people of Ghana must put their efforts together like bee-made honey to heal the wounds of the nation. Governments must always make sure that the “national cake’ is evenly distributed. Above all, put the economy on a sound footing and most importantly consolidate the rule of law so that the citizenry will have a taste of good governance.

It must be noted that the path of democracy is greased with the slime of personal opinion, apathy and caprice. War of words is certainly better than war of arms. This is true democracy. Ghana must ride along the path of democracy ad-infinitum.
